”Santa Tell Me”:<\/a> <\/a><\/strong>Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/em> wants to know if ”Santa’s really there”. This SSATB<\/em> arrangement is rather easy and a great concert piece for smaller or larger vocal groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Santa’s Coming For Us”:<\/a><\/strong> Sia<\/em> <\/strong>wrote this energetic Christmas calypso<\/em> in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Merry Christmas, you Suckers”:<\/strong><\/a> Paddy Roberts’<\/strong> <\/em>wonderfully ironic Christmas tune from 1962.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”White Christmas”:<\/a><\/strong> Irving Berlin’s<\/strong><\/em> immortal classic in close-harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Christmas is all around”:<\/a><\/strong> A highlight from the movie ”Love Actually”<\/strong><\/em> where Bill Nighy’s<\/em> character Billy Mack<\/em> is ”pressing in some extra syllables” into ”Love is all around”.<\/em> In my version I was pressing in some extra melodies as well. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Both Sides Now”:<\/a><\/strong> Obviously, Joni Mitchell<\/strong> <\/em>didn’t write this as a Christmas song. But in a concert it works very well as part of a ”Love Actually”<\/em> group. This is a rather popular arrangement of mine that exists even in a SSAA and SSAB setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”God Only Knows”:<\/a><\/strong> Even this old Beach Boys<\/em><\/strong> classic appears in the movie ”Love Actually”<\/em>. I also made a version without the close-harmony part. You’ll find it here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

#”Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer”:<\/a><\/strong> This famous British hymn<\/em><\/strong> turns out to be pretty wild in the end. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Pipes of Peace”<\/a>:<\/strong> Paul McCartney’s<\/strong><\/em> Christmas song from 1983. The old master holding a torch for world peace! The original music video takes us back to the trenches of WW 1 and the famous Christmas truce between the soldiers in 1914. This arrangement also comes with a lead sheet for an optional piano accompaniment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW 2023 ”The Wexford Carol”:<\/a><\/strong> A beautiful Irish Carol<\/strong><\/em> from the 15th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW 2024<\/mark> <\/mark><\/strong>”You Must Believe In Spring”:<\/a><\/strong> By Michel Legrand<\/strong><\/em> (actually from the musical ”Les Demoiselles de Rochefort<\/em>”). Famously interpreted by Bill Evans<\/strong><\/em> (and Tony Bennett<\/em><\/strong>). Here in a homophonic SATB setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW 2024<\/mark><\/strong> ”A Child Is Born”:<\/a><\/strong> By Thad Jones<\/strong><\/em>. Again a fine jazz standard in a homophonic setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW 2024<\/mark> <\/mark>”You Must Believe In Spring\/ A Child Is Born”: <\/a><\/strong>I think these two pieces work very well together, both musically and thematically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…and finally some Swedish Christmas music: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Trettondagsfesten”:<\/a><\/strong> The Swedish group ”Triakel”<\/strong><\/em> has recorded Sam J. Lundwall’s <\/em>hilarious folk song parody ”F\u00f6delsedagsfesten”<\/em> in 1998. I just changed a couple of words so it became ”Trettondagsfesten”<\/em> instead. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Torspar<\/em>-julaftas-v\u00e5ggvisa”<\/a><\/strong>: Another atmospheric song from Triakel’<\/em>s<\/strong> album with Christmas music. This is a composition by Alan Kristensson<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#”Gud, ditt folk \u00e4r vandringsfolket”:<\/a><\/strong> This is a Swedish version of ”Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer”.<\/em> We hear the English original in the beginning and the Swedish text in the up tempo<\/em> groovy part. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*NEW 2024<\/mark><\/strong> ”Bergslagsjul”:<\/a><\/strong> Again a song from ”Triakel’s”<\/em><\/strong> Christmas album. It’s about a small mining community in the heart of Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*NEW 2024<\/mark><\/strong> ”F\u00f6r redeliga m\u00e4n”:<\/a><\/strong> A traditional Swedish Christmas melody called ”Staffansvisa”<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#NEW 2025<\/mark><\/strong> ”Julidyll”: <\/a><\/strong>Av Hanna Schr\u00f6der.<\/em><\/strong> En humoristisk beskrivning av en ”helt vanlig jul” i folkloristisk stil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#NEW 2025<\/mark><\/strong> ”Nordanfall”<\/a><\/strong>: \u00c4ven den av Hanna Schr\u00f6der.<\/em><\/strong> H\u00e4r beskrivs som kontrast till ”Julidyll”<\/em> en vanlig julafton p\u00e5 det fattiga torpet Nordanfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
